The New Zealand Resuscitation Council is the standards setting body for resuscitation in New Zealand. The Council was established in 1996 to:
• Foster and promote excellence and consistency in the education and practice of resuscitation
• Provide a forum for discussion and a resource for people involved in the research and training of
resuscitation.
The Council produces written guidelines, books, posters and other educational resources, and has training officers who certify instructors at lay and health professional levels.
New Zealand Red Cross is a full member of the New Zealand Resuscitation Council.
In April 2010 the New Zealand Resuscitation Council is hosting a three day conference Resuscitation 2010, a scientific exploration of what is "On the Horizon" for cardiopulmonary arrest management around the globe. To be held in Auckland the conference will run from 30 April - 1 May.
