fashion trade - our one year anniversary
Fashion Trade, our exciting partnership with Country Road, increases the quality and amount of preloved clothing being sold in 40 Red Cross shops around New Zealand.
Celebrating the one year anniversary, Fashion Trade has helped keep unsold clothing out of landfill and contributed over $22,000 to help New Zealand Red Cross assist vulnerable people in the community. Country Road customers have donated over 4500 garments weighing over 2000 kilos to Red Cross shops. Thank you!
"The first year of Fashion Trade has been a great success with our customers getting involved and showing their support for the environment by helping to reduce landfill. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Red Cross and raising more funding to support the community", said Sophie Holt, Creative Director at Country Road.
"We are really pleased with the interest from the community for Fashion Trade in its first year. Our customers are enjoying the high quality donated Country Road clothing and it sells very quickly", said Patrick Cummings, National Retail Manager for New Zealand Red Cross.
Fashion Trade, is a clothing donation program, aiming to reward customers for their social conscience. raise money for the community and reduce landfill by encouraging people to recycle their preloved Country Road clothing and accessories.
Customers can simply donate any clothing or accessories and include at least one preloved Country Road item* to any participating Red Cross shop and they will receive a $10 voucher to put towards their next purchase of $50 or more at Country Road stores.
The donated clothing and accessories will be sold by Red Cross shops to raise funds to support its everyday work with vulnerable people.
Only a small percentage of the clothes currently donated to Red Cross are of acceptable quality for resale in its growing network of stores. Improving the quality of donated goods increases the likelihood of resale. Given quality is the cornerstone of Country Roads philosophy, Fashion Trade will help Red Cross receive a constant supply of high quality merchandise.
By raising awareness of the importance of high quality donations, Fashion Trade also aims to divert textile waste from landfill. The initiative is the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region and brings together the power of two trusted, international brands. Country Road will play an integral role in strengthening Red Cross retail presence.
Red Cross is committed to offering our customers the best range of donated clothing possible. Good quality clothing and accessories are vital to the ongoing success of our shops which is why we are so delighted to partner with Country Road, a brand which embodies enduring style and quality, said Patrick Cummings, National Retail Manager, New Zealand Red Cross.
The funds raised by Fashion Trade will help provide vital community services such as Meals on Wheels, which provides a warm meal to an elderly or house bound person.
