Refugee driving mentor

Help a former refugee learn to drive. Having a driver's licence allows former refugees to be independent and helps them secure employment.

Become a mentor to former refugees learning to drive

The refugee driver training programme helps former refugees who have their Learner Licence.  As their mentor, you'll teach them how to drive over a 12-16 week period.  You'll also be trained and fully supported by qualified driving instructor Garry Dunn, of Dunn's Training. You'll go on to supervise your learner driver, practising in a dual-control car.

Mentors must be at least 20 years old and have held a current full car Driver Licence for at least 2 years.  You'll also need at least 30 hours available in total to help supervise a learner driver.

By the end of the training, you'll have helped a former refugee gain confidence on the road, and they'll be ready to sit their Restricted Licence. Not only that, you'll have improved your own driving and communication skills along the way.
