Thank you so much for your donation to the Libya Floods Appeal.

Your donation will help Red Cross Red Crescent teams on the ground in north-eastern Libya provide critical support to those affected by the severe flooding and devastation caused by Hurricane Daniel.

It is thanks to our incredible donors that the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement can provide vital assistance to people around the world in their time of greatest need, at just a moment’s notice. We remain by the side of affected communities, long after others have left, to help them recover and rebuild their lives.

THANK YOU!

If you provided your email address, your donation receipt should be on its way to your inbox now.

Libya has already endured years of conflict and now more than 40,000 people are affected by a large-scale flooding disaster. Hurricane Daniel and the collapse of two large dams have left much of northeastern Libya underwater. By donating to the Libya Floods Appeal today you are helping Red Cross Red Crescent teams on the ground respond to the urgent needs of those affected by this devastating disaster as well as their recovery.

It is estimated that around 10,000 people are missing across eastern Libya following the widespread floods. The death toll is in the thousands – and expected to increase.

Severe weather and intense rainfall have battered several cities and towns, including Benghazi, Sousse, Derna and Al-Marj. Flash flooding has washed away neighbourhoods, torn down bridges and left a trail of debris.

Derna – home to over 90,000 people – has been badly flooded after two large dams burst. Floods reached 3 metres in height in some areas, sweeping away entire neighbourhoods.

Red Cross Red Crescent teams are already on the ground in affected regions responding to the urgent needs of those affected by this disaster.

While the situation is still unfolding, it is clear that the devastation caused by this disaster is significant.

Libya is now facing a humanitarian crisis.

The Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is the largest humanitarian network in the world. We provide urgent humanitarian support wherever the need is greatest. Today, we need your support to be there for people affected by the deadly flooding. Your donation will support the work of our Movement.

Please donate to the Libya Floods Appeal to support those affected by this devastating disaster.

In the unlikely event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and efficiently spent, any surplus funds will be used to help us prepare for and respond to other humanitarian disasters anywhere in the world.
