International humanitarian law

International humanitarian law (IHL) is a set of rules that seeks, for humanitarian reasons, to limit the effects of armed conflict. Since the 1860s, the Red Cross Movement has worked to develop and uphold the law, raising awareness and strengthening implementation.

Women and War

Women and War

War is not just a man's business. We run training seminars for school groups about the impact of war on women and girls.

New Zealand Red Cross, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), is offering support to New Zealand university students involved in the Jean Pictet competition for March 2021.
