Following the devastating earthquake in Nepal in April 2015, Houghton Bay School in Wellington created their own "Mt Everest" and asked for gold coin donations to cover the surface of the mountain. What a great idea! The school then donated the money to New Zealand Red Cross, knowing that it would directly benefit the people in Nepal through the international Red Cross network.
