New Zealand Red Cross International Delegates are always welcome in the Pacific Islands because people know they deliver life-saving knowledge, equipment and essential items to those who need it most.

Following the devastating 7.3 magnitude earthquake in Vanuatu, which killed 14 people, injured hundreds, and left over 80,000 struggling for survival, local mother “mama”, Meriam Motoutorua from Britano village, told us how everything that was part of their normal daily life was now gone and how she feared for her children, her “ol pikinini”, who had no safe water to drink, no way to wash, no way to afford schooling.

What her village needed most was clean water as even the local river was now polluted from broken sewerage systems.

Your support today can help our Pacific neighbours like Meriam avoid the terrible longer-term consequences following the next disaster and will help them build back stronger.
