Devastating flooding has swept across parts of Asia, affecting Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. Tragically, over 1,000 people have lost their lives, with many still missing. The scale of this disaster is enormous, with people in need of urgent humanitarian assistance – shelter, clean water and access to medical aid.

In the Philippines, multiple typhoons have struck communities, causing widespread flooding and landslides that have forced more than 500,000 people from their homes. These typhoons also struck regions that were still recovering from the devastating September earthquake, a stark reminder that disasters don’t wait for communities to get back on their feet. A Kiwi international delegate is already on the ground in the Philippines, working for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) alongside local Red Cross teams and meeting with affected people to share their experiences and most pressing needs.

Families affected by these disasters and other crises around the world are in desperate need of support, both now and on their long road to recovery.
