Urgent volunteering needs
Can you help us? At certain times, we experience a shortage in volunteer numbers for particular roles. To address this critical need, we're urgently looking to increase the number of people volunteering across the motu.
Area Councillor: As an area councillor, you'll contribute to the work of the area council to deliver positive and stable leadership. This is meaningful governance work - shaping how Red Cross supports people, ensuring local voices are heard, and helping volunteers to make a real impact. We also strongly encourage young people (under 30) who may, or may not have governance experience, but have an interest in leadership to get involved, as development in this role will be supported. Roles available nationwide - apply by 5pm, 16 March.
Volunteer retail assistant: As a volunteer retail assistant, you’ll help create a welcoming environment for our customers. You’ll do day-to-day tasks that help the shop run smoothly, and serve customers in a friendly, professional way.
Volunteer Meals on Wheels driver: Our Meals on Wheels service supports older, ill, and disabled people living at home who would otherwise struggle to provide healthy meals for themselves. We need volunteers keen to deliver hot meals and a friendly chat, to people in need across New Zealand.

Refugee support volunteer: Refugee support volunteers help families new to New Zealand to feel welcome, while learning about new cultures, meeting new people, and changing lives (including their own!).
Youth Settlement volunteer: Youth Settlement volunteers assist the Settlement Youth Worker in running events to support refugee background young people in their settlement journey.
Branch Treasurer: A branch treasurer makes sure that their branch manages its money properly. They work closely with the branch president and secretary.
