About Red Cross fundraising

Raising funds for, or donating to, Red Cross is a vital way to enable us to assist people in urgent need – both in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world.
Monies raised can be used in the delivery of services or channelled via Red Cross internationally to provide aid and assistance during times of humanitarian disasters.
Volunteer fundraisers
Your willingness to organise or participate in fundraising events and activities greatly enhances our ability to deliver our programmes and services to people in need.
When you raise funds for Red Cross, you help people overseas in times of natural disaster, conflict, and emergency.
You help people in New Zealand too, supporting them:
- In times of disaster or emergency.
- Helping displaced people resettle here.
- Delivering hot meals and other community services to vulnerable people – in your neighbourhood or around the country.
Your support makes a key difference to the lives of those most in need.
Face-to-face fundraising agencies
Face-to-face fundraising agencies with specialist experience help us recruit thousands of loyal regular monthly donors—our Project Partners—each year.
Our face-to-face fundraising representatives meet people in various places, including on the street, at private sites, and on doorsteps. They can talk to people about our programmes and how regular giving can make a significant difference. This type of fundraising is one of the most affordable and cost-effective ways of raising funds to assist those most in need
Identifying our fundraising representatives
Legitimate New Zealand Red Cross face-to-face fundraising representatives will:
- Be wearing a Red Cross branded t-shirt or jacket displaying the New Zealand Red Cross logo.
- Be displaying a New Zealand Red Cross staff, or agency identification badge with their name, photo, and identification number.
- Never ask for, or accept a cash donation.
Information our fundraising representatives will ask for
When you sign up as a Project Partner with our face-to-face fundraising representatives, you will be asked to provide personal information and bank details to allow automatic monthly donations. All this information is kept strictly confidential.
New Zealand Red Cross is a member of the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA) of New Zealand. The PFRA works with charities and service providers to ensure quality, integrity, and transparency in face-to-face fundraising by creating an atmosphere of public confidence and regulatory satisfaction.
If you have a query or concern about fundraising activity undertaken on behalf of Red Cross please email fundraising@redcross.org.nz or phone 0800 RED CROSS (733 276) during normal business hours.
