Area Council elections
Our 2026 area council elections are now complete. See the full list and short profiles of our area councillors for the 2026/27 year below.
Our seven area councils lead, coordinate and nurture our organisation and our humanitarian activities across Aotearoa New Zealand. Area councillors support Red Cross people in their area, helping to motivate, inspire, and empower them to carry out their humanitarian work.
This year elections were held by secret ballot in our Central Area and East‑West Area, as there were more candidates than vacancies.
In the other five areas (Northern, Midland, Upper South, Canterbury, and Southern), all confirmed candidates were elected unopposed.
We’re very pleased to welcome all new and returning area council volunteers. Thank you to everyone who stood as a candidate or took the time to participate by voting this year.
