Uber x Red Cross Clothing Drive returns for 2026 - donate from your doorstep

1 October 2026

It's time to clear out your wardrobe and give your clothes a second life.

On Saturday, 17 October 2026, Uber and New Zealand Red Cross are bringing back an easy way for people across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch to donate quality pre-loved clothing and support our humanitarian work across Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world.

From 10 am to 4 pm, you can book a FREE Uber Courier trip via the Uber or UberEats apps to collect your pre-loved, quality clothes and accessories right from your doorstep. These donations go straight to our Red Cross Shops to raise vital funds to support our work improving the lives of vulnerable people.

How to donate on 17 October

It’s easy! Firstly, give your wardrobe a good spring clean! Set aside clothing and accessories you no longer wear or need but that someone else would be happy to buy and wear. Gather your quality pre-loved items into a bag or box, no heavier than 20kg, so it can comfortably sit in the boot of a midsize car. Then book an Uber courier pickup.

Here's how it works:

  1. Open the Uber or UberEats app.
  2. On the campaign day (17 October), look for the Red Cross Clothing Drive banner.
  3. You should see ‘Red Cross Clothing Drive’ set as the drop-off spot.
  4. If you’re in an eligible city, the Red Cross Clothing Drive promotion should automatically apply, so check that the trip is showing as a $0 amount.
  5. Confirm the pickup.

What can I donate?

We are asking people to donate quality pre-loved clothing that is clean, in good condition and suitable for someone else to wear. Before donating, ask yourself: Would I be happy to give this to a friend, or would I be comfortable buying it in a shop? You can start preparing your donation by:

  • Choosing clothing that is clean and in good condition
  • Checking that items are suitable for resale
  • Packing your donations securely in a bag or box

See full terms and conditions below for exclusions.
