Ordinary people are bearing the brunt of the ongoing devastating conflict in the occupied Palestinian territories, Israel, and neighbouring countries.

The International Day of the Disappeared is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with the families of missing persons and to remember their missing relatives. We want families to know that they are not alone, that their loved ones are not forgotten, and that the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement continues to work to help them find the answers and support they deserve.

As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, we stand in solidarity with the humanitarian efforts of our Movement colleagues as they respond to the escalation of violence and displacement in Israel, Gaza, and other areas of the occupied Palestinian territories.

On 7 August New Zealand Red Cross marked the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions with an event at New Zealand Parliament. New Zealand Red Cross Vice President John Dyer spoke about the importance of the Geneva Conventions and the way they actively protect civilians, medics, and aid workers during conflicts. 

Every year, 8 May is World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day. It’s the day which celebrates the uniqueness and unity of our humanitarian Movement.
