Volunteer in a Red Cross Shop
Gain work experience and give back to the community by working in your local shop.
We love our volunteers!
Our 1400 retail volunteers keep our shops running smoothly. Our volunteers generally work four hours per week. They are reliable individuals who enjoy working as part of a team and like giving back to the community. They generally have an interest in fashion and are looking to get valuable work experience. Our volunteers gain retail and customer service skills and receive on-the-job-training.
Hear from Tamsin, now a shop manager, who started as a retail volunteer:
Certificate in Retail from Service IQ
Volunteering in our shops is one of the best ways to get work experience in the retail industry. In fact, volunteering in one of our shops can help you get your Certificate in Retail from Service IQ. The programme involves on-the-job training and is available to a volunteer once they have been with us for 3 months. Training for the certificates takes around 6 to 9 months.
Service IQ supports students with regular visits from their Training Advisers. We currently have about 60 people involved in this programme, studying at different levels. It's a great opportunity to add qualifications to your CV, for free!

Volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience. Our retail volunteers get valuable work experience, on the job training and the opportunity to advance their retail careers.
