As part of our response to the devasting floods and landslides across South and Southeast Asia, our international delegate, Dallas Roy, has once again packed his bags and headed to Sri Lanka to support recovery efforts following one of the country’s worst disasters in recent history.

“Don’t forget” is seemingly such a small request. It comes from New Zealand Red Cross international delegate Ellie van Baaren, currently in the Philippines, where three huge disasters have recently ravaged the densely populated country, affecting countless human lives.  

Since 1960, we’ve sent team members overseas on more than 1,000 assignments to save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity on the front line.

This year marks 50 years since the end of international armed conflict in Viet Nam. Between 1968 and 1975, we sent more than 30 team members to help people affected by the conflict. This Vietnam Veterans’ Day, we’re taking the time to remember our people who dedicated their time to upholding human dignity and protecting humanity in Viet Nam.

As a boy growing up in England’s southwest, Snowy Lintern wanted to be a sailor. “I ran away to sea as soon as I could.”

He joined the Royal Navy in 1987 and stayed for 25 years, during which he served in Iraq and deployed to Afghanistan. He’s been an armed forces delegate with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) since 2018 and is based in Tokyo, where he covers Asia-Pacific.
