Volunteering Eligibility

To volunteer with New Zealand Red Cross, you must:

  • Be currently based in New Zealand
  • Remain in New Zealand for the duration of your volunteering role
  • Have the legal right to volunteer in New Zealand

Information you'll need

As part of the application process you'll need:

  • the details of an emergency contact person
  • the details of two people we can phone to do a character reference check.

Your two references cannot be related to you or be part of your extended family, be your partner or spouse or live at the same address as you.

Initial screening questions

Are you available on week days (Monday to Friday) for mid-morning shifts?
Do you have a valid driver's licence?
Do you have reliable access to a vehicle?

If you can't answer yes to the above questions we may not be able to use you as a Meals on Wheels driver.

You may want to look at a different volunteer role.

Have you been found guilty of a driving offence within the last seven years, or are you currently awaiting processing for any driving related offences?
